PREMIUM PROGRAM

Lodge and Canoe Outfitter – Grand Marais, MN

Lodge and Canoe Outfitters

Total of 1 Position (male or female):

Pay rate: $7.25 per hour. 

Housekeeping with additional duties

Duties include greeting and seating guests, general cleaning (both inside and outside of hotel).  Boat cleaning, shingling, answering client questions.

Requirements: Very good English, flexible with work duties.  Housekeeping is a big priority and participants should understand that they are cleaning all parts of the hotel, including toilets.  The area is very rural and located 30 miles from the nearest town (employer provides transportation to supermarket).  Participants should have good to excellent English and be able to communicate and answer questions.  Participants must have a SLEP score of 90% or higher. Participants must have a positive cheerful attitude.

  • The female will primary do housekeeping, beach cleaning and garbage pick-up.  Other duties will be assigned at employer discretion.
  • The male will clean boats, mow grass, do housekeeping and also do shingling.  Other duties will be assigned at employer discretion. 

Dates: June 1 – September 1

Housing: $60 per week, payroll deducted.  Shared 2 bedroom mobile home. Shared kitchen and bathroom. Wireless internet available at main lodge.


PREMIUM PROGRAM

Fast Food Restaurant  – Gulfport, MS

Total of 2 Positions (1 male and 1 female): 

Crew Member: Service or Production positions available based on employer needs.

Greet customers, take and fill orders, clean area, fill supply, food preparation, food assembly, grill work, counter help, customer service, cashier as well as any general cleaning.

Employer has many different locations in Gulfport. Employee will be assigned to a specific work/store location immediately before or after arrival and based on the individual store needs.

Pay rate: $8.25 per hour

Requirements: All positions require customer service skills.  We must all work as a team. All employees will be responsible for monitoring food production, presentation, and restaurant cleanliness.

Dates:

June 7 and June 15 (students CANNOT arrive before June 10th due to housing restrictions)

Earliest end date: September 1.  Preferred end date September 15

Housing:

Cost of housing is $100 per week per student and is payroll deducted. Shared two bedroom apartment or shared four bedroom modular home.  Fully furnished including linens and kitchen utensils.  Utilities are included as well as cable TV and wireless internet.  Transportation between housing and work location is included in housing cost.  A "pre-paid" cell phone is provided to each student at no cost.  Student is responsible for purchasing their own cell phone minutes.

p>ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

 

 

  • Set up bar and bar area according to Catalina Kitchen standards 
  • Consistently keep the restaurant organized and clean
  • Set up Trash cans, soda, plates, utensils, and to-go containers at start of shift
  • Pick up soiled plates and beverages, and place into bus tubs
  • Ensure full bus tubs get brought back into the kitchen
  • Maintain cleanliness of work areas, china, glass, etc., throughout the day 
  • Set up heat lamps or umbrellas per a guests request 
  • Complete closing duties, including restocking items, turning off lights, etc. 
  • Ensure uniform and personal appearance are clean and professional 
  • Welcome and acknowledge all guests according to company standards 
  • Anticipate and address guests` service needs 
  • Speak with others using clear and professional language 
  • Ensure adherence to quality expectations and standards 
  • Move, lift, carry, push, pull, and place objects weighing less than or equal to 20 pounds without assistance 
  • Perform other reasonable job duties as requested by Supervisors

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Adhere to departmental policies and procedures
  • Effectively communicate with peers, management, line and front of the house employees
  • Perform related duties as required
  • Be responsible for the cleanliness of the immediate work area as well as the general property
  • Subscribe to proper grooming, dress and uniform standards as set forth by Company policy

  • Maintain behavior consistent with sexual harassment/hostile work environment policy dictated in the Employee Handbook

Pay rate: $8.00 per hour + tips

Desirable:

1. High school graduate.

2. Previous training in guest relations.

3. Previous experience in hospitality industry, preferably Housekeeping in a hotel environment

4. 1year prior experience in cleaning hotel guest rooms.

5. Knowledge of proper chemical handling.

 

Physical Abilities

Essential:

1. Exert physical effort in carrying 75lbs and pushing/pulling 200lbs.

2. Endure various physical movements throughout the work areas.

3. Satisfactorily communicate with guests, management and co-workers to their understanding.

Resource information is provided for local housing options in close proximity to the work location.  Participant is REQUIRED to contact the housing options to reserve an apartment BEFORE arrival.  Most housing choices require participants to find roommates to share an apartment.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • High School education or equivalent
  • Experience in the hospitality industry (preferred)
  • Must have basic knowledge of cleaning and organizing
  • Must be able to speak, comprehend, read, and write English
  • Must have strong customer service skills
  • Must have strong communication skills
  • Must have ability to implement and uphold service standards
  • Must have ability to prioritize and organize work assignments
  • Must have ability to interact with all associates and resort guests 
  • Must be able to effectively handle stressful, high-pressure situations
  • Must be able to exert up to 50 pounds of force occasionally and able to constantly lift, carry, pull or push up to 20 pounds of force
  • Must be able to stand or walk for long periods of time

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Perform duties in a safe manner, routinely observing all safety procedures.  Report all accidents and injuries in a timely manner

  • Jewelry is prohibited except for wedding rings and watches and approved earrings for female employees.  Male employees may not wear earrings while on duty

  • Do not sleep on duty.
  • Do not use tobacco during work hours while on the premises
