Usually the participants find their jobs during the 2-3 first weeks. The job hunting period might be quite intense, but it is a good experience and gives you the opportunity to freely pick your own location and employer. You are free to pick any location and almost any job. Usually we look for jobs that don’t have a long process of selection and are youthful and easy to do. The typical jobs are waitering, handing out flyers, bartending, shop assisting etc.
The most important thing when looking for a job on the spot is the right mindset. It means that you are teachable, positive and willing to take the responsibility for your own summer.
It is a numbers game and the more you try the higher the odds of hitting it. So far everyone who have been persistent and had the right attitude have found their jobs in a couple of days. People who are not so serious about working find their jobs within one month usually.
Before leaving every participant will take part of a big orientation where you can meet other participants and where we teach you the best tactics of J-1 job hunting that we have tested over the years.
